Email is broken.
We fixed it.

Your inbox isn't yours
Every major email provider treats your messages as raw material. Here's what they don't tell you.
They read your mail
Gmail scans every message for ad targeting. Yahoo runs your inbox through AI models. Outlook serves ads based on content. Your private conversations are their product.
You're training their AI
Many providers feed your emails into LLM training pipelines. Every draft, every reply, every personal note becomes part of their model. You didn't agree to that.
'Encrypted' means nothing
Most email encryption is theater. If the provider holds the keys, they can read your messages on demand. NOVA-to-NOVA mail with client-side keys is end-to-end encrypted — we literally cannot read it. Everything else is encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM.
You're being farmed
Storage limits to force upgrades. AI features you can't disable. Tracking pixels that report when you open mail. The entire system is designed to extract value from you.
So we built our own
No investors. No exit strategy. No data pipeline to feed. Just email that does what it's supposed to.
Your own keys for NOVA-to-NOVA mail
With client-side encryption enabled (Settings → Encryption), messages between NOVA accounts are end-to-end encrypted with a key that lives on your device — the server stores only ciphertext and cannot decrypt them. Mail to and from external providers (the bulk of real-world email) is encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM, the same standard the biggest providers use.
No AI on your mail. Not ours.
NOVA runs no LLM training on your inbox. No smart replies. No auto-suggest stealing your words. If you want an AI to help with your own mail, there's an optional bridge where you bring your own agent and your own key — off by default, fully revocable. Your words stay yours.
Zero tracking infrastructure
No analytics scripts. No tracking pixels. No third-party embeds. No 'share data with partners.' Your inbox is the only ad-free corner of the internet left.
No upsells, no dark patterns
No premium tier, no ads, no dark patterns. Storage is capped only to keep the service free and running — your current generous limit is shown in Account settings. Sending is rate-limited to stop abuse, not to sell you anything.
How we operate
Email is infrastructure. It should work, be private, and get out of your way.
Your messages belong to you. Not to some company's data pipeline.
Privacy is not a premium feature. It's the default.
Encryption that the provider can bypass is not encryption.
If you're not paying for the product, you are the product. We don't sell either.
Trust is earned by making betrayal impossible.
We get it. Really.
A brand-new email service asking for your mail sounds exactly like a scam. Here's the honest version — questions you'd ask, answers we'd give.
Why does this exist?
Because every major email provider treats your inbox as a data pipeline: ad targeting, AI training, content scanning, upsells. There was no credible free, private, no-ads option that isn't a front for something. So we built one. NOVA has no investors, no venture funding, and no data business — there is literally nothing to monetize except a donation button we haven't even added yet.
This looks like a scam. Why should I trust you?
You shouldn't — yet. Trust isn't a promise, it's evidence. That's why we built this service the way we did: our uptime and security status is published live at status.nova-email.com, there are no tracking scripts anywhere, and NOVA-to-NOVA mail with client-side keys is end-to-end encrypted so we can't read it even if we wanted to. Every claim on this page is something you can verify or we can show you in a support conversation. Start with a disposable account and test us before you move anything real.
You have zero track record. Why would I move my mail here?
Fair. We do. Which is why we made moving painless instead of locking you in: export anytime, delete anytime, no contracts, no migration fees, and your domain records (if you use a custom domain) stay in your hands the whole time. The cost of trying NOVA is a few minutes, not a commitment. If we ever betray that, nothing stops you from walking — and our status is public so someone will notice.
Free forever? What's the catch?
The catch is you have to believe us. There's no premium tier, no ads, no data selling, and no upsells. The service is deliberately small and cheap to run, and the founder pays for it out of pocket. Storage and sending limits exist to keep abuse out and costs down — not to sell you an upgrade. If we ever need money, we'll ask you directly, in the open, before doing anything behind your back.
Who runs this, really?
One person, building it in public, with no corporate backing. That's a feature and a risk at the same time, and we won't pretend otherwise. What it means for you: every feature decision is ours alone and there's no board to sell your data to. What it means for us: we have to be extremely careful and transparent, because a single mistake with a single user ends the whole thing. We treat it that way.
What happens if you disappear?
Nothing about your email is hostage. Export everything with one click. Messages between NOVA users using client-side keys are encrypted with keys that live on your devices — losing them means losing access, so back them up via Settings → Encryption. If you attached a custom domain, your DNS stays yours — pointing it somewhere else restores delivery instantly. And our docs, status, and this page are archived publicly, so there's a record of what we promised.
